Zeus, Inc., a global leader in material science and high performance polymer extrusions, announces the launch of offering its entire corporate website in German as part of its commitment to reach new markets and enhance accessibility to its product offerings worldwide.

The German translation is the latest show of global range by the company. Prior to this launch, Zeus already offered general company information on its site in German, French, Chinese, Spanish and Italian. It also has a catalog available in several languages, international facilities and offices, bilingual representatives and modified customer support hours to better accommodate partners outside of the U.S.

"Offering our website in German is one of the ways we are enhancing our reach and convenience for our partners and prospective clients across the globe," said Alan Andrews, Senior Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing. "The ultimate goal is to provide world-class services and accessibility that is always innovating, improving and expanding."

Equipped with all the same enhancements as the English version, the new German Zeus website is available by clicking the language icon at the top right corner of the companie's homepage. The website continues to be a resource for comprehensive information on Zeus products as well as its analytical, research and development services.

Zeus Inc., a global leader in material science and the manufacture of fluoropolymer tubing, announces its new state of the art advanced materials laboratory dedicated exclusively to the extrusion, analysis, and characterization of Absorv™ Bioabsorbables. Zeus has also expanded its Absorv Bioabsorbables capabilities, including precision tubing ranging from outer diameters of 0.012in to 0.250in and tolerances as tight as ± 0.0005in.

"Zeus has a history of being at the forefront of cutting edge technology in polymer science and we are continuing that tradition in the field of absorbable materials," said Dr. Bruce Anneaux, Corporate Manager, Research & Development. "We have devoted an entirely new area to the development of bioabsorbables as these polymers will play a significant role in modern medical device design and next generation therapies."

Zeus has dedicated 5,000 sq ft of laboratory space for the exploration and production of Absorv Bioabsorbables. The new facility is a controlled environment with an integral Class VII clean room. The laboratory is staffed with a team of leading scientists, engineers, and technicians who are highly skilled and experienced in the field of biomaterial development. Laboratory staff also includes regulatory engineers and quality control personnel who are working to pursue new certification levels.

"Not only have we expanded our facilities and technical staff, but we have also designated a portion of our sales force to work solely with our partners in the field of bioabsorbables. Zeus has seen tremendous response to initial efforts within this field and it quickly became apparent we needed specific focus on this emerging product line," said Josh Ridley, Business Development Manager – Biomaterials. "Our goal is to help companies expand or improve their standard offerings through new processing and product forms."

Enhanced properties of Absorv Bioabsorbables include modulated degradation rates, varying strengths and stiffness, and FDA-approval for medical devices. Zeus is currently processing these materials and providing multiple extrusion forms, such as shapes, special profiles, and multi-lumens. The product offering also includes precision tubing ranging from outer diameters of 0.012in to 0.250in and tolerances as tight as ± 0.0005in; monofilament ranging from diameters of 0.003in to 0.060in; tape/ribbon; rod stock; and compounded pellet form. Zeus also provides absorbable polymers as cast films and non-woven microporous sheets.

Electrospining

Zeus, Inc. announces a new technology platform in the field of electrospinning, a process that produces polymer fibers with thicknesses ranging from the nano to microscale. Zeus is able to develop fabrics with complex shapes from solutions, pastes, and bioabsorbables. The result is a broad range of fiber and fabric properties that are able to meet some of the most challenging demands.

Electrospun polymers produce fibers and fabrics with high surface to weight and volume ratios, which makes these materials excellent candidates for controlled biological interactions and filtration media (stand alone and coding).

In the biological area, the porous nature of the fabric allows for the formation of implantable structures within the body. Cellular growth is allowed as the electrospun fabric acts as a scaffolding to permit integration into the body. In the case of bioabsorbable materials, the scaffolding is eventually absorbed, leaving a structure of the body’s own cells intact.

To meet application demands, Zeus is able to introduce additives, ranging from therapeutic agents to property modifiers, into the solutions that are then incorporated into the fibers and fabrics.

"Embarking on this new technology platform demonstrates Zeus' long-standing commitment to innovation, research, and superior customer support," said Bruce Anneaux, Corporate Manager, Research and Development. "We are excited about the electrospinning process and what this means for our partners in terms of enhancing and creating new solutions for challenging applications."
